ANDREW LIYANAGE OUR PARA BELLUM JIU JITSU FIGHTER HAD A CRAZY WEEKEND WITH THE RUCKUS JJ CREW IN FLORENCE, ITALY AT THE IBJJF FIRENZE OPEN 2018.
WITH HIS TRADEMARK SINGLE & DOUBLE LEG ATTACKS AND A HEAVY TOP PASSING GAME HE COULD WIN HIS FIGHT A THE FINALS IN A RAZORSHARP REFEREE DECISION. THERE IS A LOT TO IMPROVE, REF DECISIONS ARE NEVER A THING TO ADORE, NOR IS IT TO WIN BY ADVANTAGES AND BUILDING A STRATEGY AROUND WINNING FIGHTS IN THIS MANNER.
JIU JITSU IS MORE THAN THAT, THE TAKEDOWN HAS TO BE IN PLACE, THE GUARD PASS HAS TO BE ESTABLISHED FULLY, OR THE SWEEP FROM THE GUARD, OR THE SUBMISSION TO FINISH THE FIGHT. IT'S NOT ALWAYS EASY TO FULLY ESTABLISH THE POSITIONS, NOR THE PASSES, NOR THE SWEEPS. BUT WE WILL NOT BE HAPPY WITH A MINIMALISTIC JIU JITSU GAME WHERE YOU ONLY GO FOR ADVANTAGES AFTER A HALF ASS APPLIED PASS WITH THE ONLY INTENTION TO SCORE AN ADVANTAGE OR PRAYING FOR REF DECISION - SO THERE'S A LOT TO IMPROVE FOR ANDREW AND US AS INSTRUCTORS TO TEACH THEM THE RIGHT WAY.
ANYWAY, ANDREW WON THE GOLD MEDAL, WHICH IS A HUGE BOOST OF ENERGY WHICH HE WILL USE IN THE TRAINING TO IMPROVE HIS GAME! CONGRATS ANDREW FOR YOUR BIG WIN AT THE IBJJF FIRENZE OPEN 2018.
AND CONGRATS AS WELL TO SURVIVE THE WEEKEND WITH THE FULLY CRAZY RUCKUS JJ CREW :-) :-) :-)
